Lush vegetation on Cheju (September 2000).
(Please read this before you copy our photos or text.)

Did I mention that Cheju is damp? It certainly was when we were there in September of 2000. We didn't meet up with any of the typhoons that stop in to say hi fairly regularly, but we did find that (at least in the autumn) any sunshine you get is just the rain taking a smoking break. But it's fairly warm, almost tropical, and the picture above shows it.

This scene is just inside the entrance to Hallim Park. Walk on through the park and you'll find formal gardens, water gardens, rock gardens, bonsai gardens, and a bird and butterfly garden. There's also a folk village with a handful of thatched-roof cottages, and a couple of fairly interesting caves.
