A Kongrish menu

Konglish is the use of English words in Korean. Kongrish is the Korean version of Engrish -- a (shall we say) somewhat misguided use of English.

I'm OK with the beef rib soup, and I think I can figure out the souse vermicelli and maybe even the Pyongyang lice vermicelli (I can't think of another Korea dish where I've seen rice and noodles together, but never mind). But what is miced lice vermicelli? Something the cat dragged in?

The restaurant was down the street from Margaret's hagwon. In 2000, they asked the hagwon's director, Mrs. Kim, for help. Their English obviously needed some. But it was too late. Before Mrs. Kim, Margaret, and company could finish the retranslation, the eatery shut down for good.

Was it the menu that drove them into the poorhouse? Maybe, but given the number of westerners in Kangnung (Gangneung) even today, I doubt that it had anything to do with the menu's English.
